Shawanaga First Nation Healing Centre

The Shawanaga First Nation Healing Centre is a safe, welcoming place for community members of all ages to access health, healing, and wellness support. Rooted in Anishinaabe values and guided by a holistic approach to care, our Healing Centre offers a wide range of culturally grounded programs that honour the body, mind, spirit, and community.

Whether you’re looking for support with family life, mental wellness, chronic illness, addiction, or traditional healing, our dedicated team is here to walk beside you. Services are offered through community programming or at our Healing Lodge, and are open to all Shawanaga members—with some services also extended to surrounding First Nation and Urban Indigenous communities.

Food Security & Traditional Knowledge

Traditional Food Program

An award-winning initiative that strengthens food security while teaching traditional skills. Youth learn how to hunt, clean, and prepare game, which is then shared with Elders and families in need. Recognized by Health Canada as one of the top three food security programs in the country.

The Healing Lodge

The Shawanaga Healing Lodge offers a deeper path to healing for those impacted by family violence and trauma. Through the guidance of Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional medicine people, individuals and families receive culturally respectful care that nurtures the whole being.

Services are open to Shawanaga members, neighbouring First Nations, and the Urban Indigenous community.
