Position Summary

 

The Cashier is responsible for the day-to-day operations and ensuring all customers are greeted, and treated with respect and professionalism. Participate in merchandising and promotional activities. Assist with the display and inventory management of all products. Using a POS system in order to accept all transactions. Maintain a high level of customer service, maintaining professionalism, and portray Shawanaga First Nation in a positive manner. Ensure prompt and efficient customer service.

 

Duties

  • Organizes filing for all appropriate documentation
  • Monthly remittances; data entry; payroll entries; journal entries
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform clerical duties such as maintaining filing and record systems
  • Process invoices and vouchers for payment
  • Prepare budgets, read budgets and maintain budgets
  • Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manage

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Greet customers with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Prepare sales and take transactions
  • Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day/shift.
  • Ensure health and safety of the store is maintained.
  • Inform supervisors of the need to order materials as required.
  • Check identification of customers to make sure they meet minimum age

            requirements for the purchase of tobacco products and or lottery products

  • Maintain a clean work environment and ensure proper supplies are

            available when needed.

  • Cleaning and disinfection of all register areas after every shift.

 

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma

Preference may be given to Aboriginal candidates with relevant on reserve employment experience and/or those with knowledge and understanding of Shawanaga First Nation history and community.

 

Successful candidates must be able to produce and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check (CPIC).
