Snowplow Driver
$20/hour, 10 hours standby for the person on call approaching storms.
Start Date: Tbd
Part time snowplow/sand truck and/or case 580 loader operator for the 2024/2025 plowing season for Shawanaga First Nation.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Available to be on call 7 days per week, minimum 45-minute notice
- Must be reliable, cautious and demonstrates initiative
- Ability to workday, evening and night shifts as weather determines
- Able to plow and sand for duration of any storm to approx. 8 hours a day
- Able to report for work by 5:00am for overnight storms
- Follow signed priority plowing schedule
- Season runs Dec 1st, or first snow fall through to April 30th or spring thaw
- Snowbank push back, hydrant access, and preliminary storm clean up
- Daily circle checks, able to fix minor repairs on the go
- Report to regular public works staff as necessary
Prior plowing/sanding experience considered an asset. Area of operation to be within Shawanaga First Nation. Administration Office, Store, Healing Centre, Water Plant, Well Site #3, School, Church, Rec Centre, and various specified driveways through Shawanaga First Nation.
Preference may be given to Aboriginal candidates with relevant on reserve employment experience and/or those with knowledge and understanding of Shawanaga First Nation history and community.
Successful candidates must be able to produce and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check.
